Statement of Faith
We believe:
- God is eternal, three persons in One: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 14:6, 9-18; 1 John 5:4-8; Revelation 4:8)
- God the Father is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (Exodus 34:8; Nehemiah 9:17; Psalm 103:8; 145:8)
- Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God the Father; He is the promised Messiah, the Christ. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and His death on the cross at Calvary was the full propitiation paid for all sin. After three days, Jesus rose from the dead, walked the earth, and witnessed by more than 500 people. After many infallible proofs, He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father making intercession for the Church. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 3:17; 17:5; Luke 1:26-35; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Hebrews 7:24-25; 2 Peter 1:16-18)
- The Holy Spirit reveals God to us and it is He who teaches, guides, and comforts us. (Psalm 51:10-12; John 14:26-27; 16:7-15)
- Prophecy is for the edification, exhortation, and building of mankind. The Spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 14:1-3; Revelation 19:10b)
- It is the kindness of God that leads us to repentance. No one can come to the Father unless the Holy Spirit draws that person to Himself. (Joel 2:13; Romans 4:2)
- Salvation is to be preached in Jesus’ name to all peoples, beginning at Jerusalem, and going throughout the entire world. (Matthew 4:23; 28:18-20; Mark 13:10; 14:9; 16:15; Luke 4:18; Acts 20:24)
- The baptism of the Holy Spirit is immediately available upon recognizing and confessing Jesus as Savior. His gifts are given by God to be developed and used to the glory of the Father in the building of His kingdom. (Mark 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Acts 1:4-5; 2:38; 19:1-7)
- While the local church is important, we do not believe that God limits Himself to a building. Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone and He is fitting us together as a living temple for God’s Holy Spirit to inhabit. Together all believers in Christ Jesus make the Church. (Ephesians 2:19-22; 4:11-16)
- The Bible is inspired by God's Spirit and is sufficient to teach guide us in our daily walk when we seek the Holy Spirit to teach us. (Isaiah 40:8; John 16:13; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:21)
The Old Testament was passed down orally for years; however, unlike the game “telephone” each telling was done meticulously and repeated until it was told exactly the same.
Because the original transcripts were written in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, we believe that reading and studying in the language you best understand with the help of a concordance explaining the original languages. Many teachings on this website are shared from the New King James Version as well as the New American Standard. OUr website of choice is www.biblegate.com
- We partake of the Lord's Supper regularly. We believe taking Communion (bread and wine or grape juice) is symbolic of the body and blood of Jesus poured out for our sins. We take it in remembrance of His love for us. (Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:14-20; John 6:32-40; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
- We believe in water baptism for believers. Our preferred method is by immersion. (Luke 3:21)
- We believe in the physical return of Christ to receive His church unto Himself. We believe Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:36"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone."
- Praise and worship is to honor and bless God and not entertain man. The Father seeks those who worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24)
- We do not have to engage in specific rituals to approach God, but rather may go boldly to the Throne of Grace and receive mercy in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16; 10:19-25)
- Prayer is not a one-way communication. We believe we must take time to listen and see what God will say. Jesus’s sheep hear His voice and another they will not follow. (Habakkuk 2:1; John 10:2-5)
